Karen (Cookie) and I were friends all through grade school at Tess Corners. I remember walking to her house for lunch - back in the day when kids could do that! - and being treated to the best grilled cheese sandwiches! We were both fairly shy and shared a similar sense of humor. When I learned of her death (in a Christmas card sent by her husband) I thought of the times we had spent together as children and how easy it was to drift apart as we grew up. I remember our years at Tess Corners - and wish we had stayed in touch as adults.
