Gary said something to me in 8th grade that still gives me confidence all these years later. I was on a ladder in the Muskego Elementary School library shelving books when Gary walked in, looked me up and down, and said I had better legs than X, the acknowledged 8th grade beauty (you KNOW who you are). That summer he gave me a necklace for my 14th birthday which I still have. I wish I had known he was sick; I would have visited him and tried to be as supportive for him as his one little comment always has been for me.
